Plain-language summary: Fuel Calculator MW does not require an account and does not request your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, or files. It stores your routes, calculations, and preferences on your device. 1. Who we are
Fuel Calculator MW (the “App”) is developed and operated by Amaranth Solutions in Malawi (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and shared when you use the App.
2. Information we collect
Information stored on your device. The App may store saved routes, calculation history, custom fuel-consumption categories, fuel-price data, application configuration, theme choices, onboarding status, and other preferences locally on your device. We do not receive the contents of saved routes or calculation history merely because they are stored locally.
Installation and device information. When the App synchronizes with our service, it may send a randomly generated installation identifier, App version, Android version, and device model. The installation identifier is not your name, telephone number, or Google account identifier.
Limited usage events. We may receive events such as whether a calculation was performed, the calculator mode, fuel type, number of destinations, whether the route returns to its origin, App version, and event time. These events are used in aggregate to understand and improve the App. They do not include the names of the districts in your route, exact distance, fuel quantity, cost, or your precise location.
Server and network data. Our hosting provider may automatically process ordinary technical logs, such as IP address, request time, response status, and browser or device network information, for security, troubleshooting, and reliable service delivery.
Information you provide. If you contact us, we receive the contact details and message content you choose to provide.
3. Advertising and Google services
The App uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google’s consent tools. Google and its advertising partners may collect or use device identifiers, IP address, advertising data, diagnostics, and interaction data to deliver, measure, limit, and protect advertisements. Depending on your region and choices, advertisements may be personalised or non-personalised.
Google processes information under its own policies. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Where required, the App presents a consent form or privacy-options entry point.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide fuel prices, route standards, banners, release notes, configuration, and update information;
- operate calculations, saved routes, history, and offline functionality;
- understand feature usage and improve performance and reliability;
- display and measure advertising where enabled;
- detect abuse, diagnose errors, and protect the App and our services; and
- respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.
5. Permissions
The App requests internet access and network-state access so that it can synchronize data, check connectivity, retrieve updates and content, and display advertisements. It does not request Android permission to access precise or approximate location, contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, call logs, or device files.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share or allow processing of limited information with:
- Google and advertising partners for advertising, consent, fraud prevention, and measurement;
- hosting, infrastructure, and technical service providers that help us operate the App;
- professional advisers, regulators, courts, or law-enforcement authorities where legally required; and
- a successor organisation if the App or its business is reorganised, transferred, or sold.
7. Storage, retention, and security
Local data remains on your device until you delete it through the App, clear the App’s data, or uninstall the App, subject to Android backup or device-transfer settings. Server-side technical and usage records are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including security, support, analysis, and legal compliance.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device.
8. Your choices and rights
You can clear calculation history and saved information using available App controls, or remove local App data through Android settings or by uninstalling the App. Step-by-step instructions and the server-side request process are available on our Delete Your Data page. You may manage advertising consent through the privacy options shown in the App when available and may reset or restrict your Android advertising identifier through your device’s Google settings.
You may contact us to ask about, correct, or request deletion of information associated with your installation identifier or support correspondence. We may need information sufficient to locate the relevant record and may retain information where required by law or necessary for security and legal claims.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is a general fuel-planning utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. International processing
Some service providers, including Google, may process information in countries other than Malawi. Their data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where applicable, those providers use their own safeguards for international transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, our practices, service providers, or the law. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App.
