What the app does
Fuel Calculator MW helps you estimate how much fuel a journey may require and what that fuel may cost. It is useful when preparing a travel budget, comparing journey options or checking whether a fuel allocation is reasonable.

The answer is a planning estimate. It is not a guarantee of exact fuel use.

Two simple ways to calculate
Government rates
Use this mode when a government office or organisation requires approved travel figures. You choose the starting district, destination and vehicle category. The app then uses the route distance and fuel-consumption rate already provided in the system.
- Choose where the journey starts and ends
- Select the approved vehicle category
- Check the route and calculate the estimated litres and cost
Custom calculation
Use this mode for a personal trip or whenever you know the figures you want to use. You enter the journey distance and your vehicle's fuel consumption. The app combines these with the selected fuel price to produce an estimate.
- Enter the one-way or return distance
- Choose petrol or diesel
- Enter how much fuel your vehicle normally uses
- Create reusable vehicle categories in Settings; they will appear in the Custom Calculation consumption choices
Fuel prices in Malawi
The application uses the latest Malawi petrol and diesel prices available in the system. When an administrator updates a price, new calculations use that price automatically. If you are working offline, check that the app has synchronized recently.
Your privacy
Designed without a user account
You do not need to register or sign in. Saved routes, calculation history and preferences are stored on your device. The app does not require your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone or personal files to calculate fuel.
Common questions
Answers for first-time users
Why might my actual fuel use be different?
Traffic, hills, road condition, weather, vehicle condition, load, driving speed and detours can all change actual consumption.
Which mode should I choose?
Use Government mode when you must follow the configured official route standards. Use Custom mode when you want to enter your own figures.
Can I use the app without internet?
Previously synchronized information and local calculations may remain available, but current fuel prices and other updates require synchronization.
Can I save a journey?
Yes. Useful routes can be saved on your device and opened again later.
Is the result an official receipt or approval?
No. It is a planning estimate. Confirm organisational requirements and current information before making a final decision.
